IOS apps to use with workbook lessons, and more
I've done a very quick review of apps available to use for Workbook practice or just general reading on a digital device. Other than a Kindle version of both the FIP and CE editions of the Course, there are no specialized apps for use on a Mac. The Foundation for Inner Peace does offer a Windows version of the Course that is highly searchable. The following are apps I have found for the iPhone and iPad:
a. ACIM. This is authorized by the Foundation for Inner Peace, and contains all of the FIP edition of the Course, including the Song of Prayer and Psychotherapy Pamphlet. It has reminders. It has a simple search for a word or phrase. You can highlight, mark favorite passages, and make notes. It even has a very good audio recording of the entire Course so that you can have it read to you! It costs, I think, $12. (I bought it last night but don't remember the exact price.)
b. ACIM Remind: $5.99. Specifically for Workbook practice. Includes preset reminders keyed to the practice instructions from within each lesson. No audio. No search.
c. The ACIM App (Clarity Works). $6.99. Has Text, Workbook, Manual. No search; must scroll thru list to desired location. Reminders must be manually set.
d. A Course in Miracles Workbook. $9.99. Has audio reading. Must click star to indicate lesson is complete; then button to "My Next Lesson" works to jump to daily lesson. Set reminders manually. Can search lesson titles.
There are two other apps I've found I do not recommend in general. There is a free app by Jennifer Hadley that is designed for iPhone only; it comes up in portrait mode, enlarged, on the iPad, with large text that limits what can be seen on a single screen. But it IS free!
The other is called "The Original Edition" of ACIM, and is also free. It's of interest because it includes a lot of material from the Urtext in the Text portion. There is also audio reading included, but the narration is, to me, unlistenable. The speaker is unclear, sounds like a life-long smoker, and talks so slowly I want to fall asleep, I didn't check for lesson reminder function.
If you don't want to load another app on your device, you can find the full text of the Course in many places on the Internet using your browser. One good location is the Foundation for Inner Peace, https://acim.org. Just click on the "Lessons" link in the header. The site layout is confusing but I think you'll figure it out.
